Yesterday, we had this great group of students compete at UIL Region for Academics @ TAMU Corpus Christi. We are so proud of them!
Karys Rogers placed 20th in Calculator Applications. Angela Zuniga placed 14th in Science. Kamryn Rogers competed in Editorial Writing. We placed 5th as a Spelling & Vocabulary team (Lola Finch, Kailey Castaneda, Dashle Reed, Luke Stefek, Leeah Malone & Krista Hutka). Individually in Spelling: Luke Stefek placed 24th, Dashle Reed placed 20th, Kailey Castaneda placed 17th, and Lola Finch placed 6th. Lola also placed 2nd in Copy Editing and will advance to the state competition. We wish her all the luck and success at State!
Coach Rivera would also like to thank our three Seniors: "I am so proud of and thankful to Leeah, Kailey, and Luke for 4 great years of UIL Spelling. Since their Freshman year, they have came in eager and ready to compete from the start of the school year until our season ends. They helped set a standard that I believe has made more GHS students want to compete in UIL, especially in spelling. They are some of the brightest, most dedicated students I have been lucky enough to teach and coach. So again, thank you to each of you for the last 4 years!" (Also, thank you Luke for making our drive back home a little more clear!)
