We would like to thank the families of Mr. Joe Pekar (27 years of PA Service) and Mr. Ronnie Steffek (41 years of PA Service) for joining us us this past Friday as we honored both of them at halftime by inducting them into the “Voice of the Lions Hall of Honor.” Both men had historic public address announcing careers and their legacy will live on forever in the new GISD Stadium Press box. We would also like to thank filming legend, Mrs. Lillie Huf for dedicating almost 30 years of climbing press boxes as the official videographer of Granger Lion Football. With over 300+ games filmed, we want to wish Mrs. Huf a much well-deserved and earned happy retirement.

Fentanyl dangers are impacting Texans of all ages. Fentanyl is 50–100 times more potent than morphine — just 2 milligrams could be lethal. According to U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) lab tests, “four out of every ten fake pills with fentanyl contain a potentially lethal dose.” The impacts of fentanyl are devastating — and deadly. Drug cartels purposely make the illegal drugs look like candy to help target younger people to get them addicted.

Congratulations to the Granger Marching Band! This weekend, the Granger Band competed at the UIL Area Marching Contest, performing alongside some of the top high school bands in Central Texas. Our students earned an incredible 13th place finish, which is the best placement ever in school history!
Just qualifying for the UIL Area Contest requires nearly perfect scores at UIL Region, and earning this high of a placement at Area is an extraordinary accomplishment that reflects the students’ hard work, dedication, and musical excellence.
We are so proud of the improvement and success the Granger Band has achieved this season and look forward to their continued growth in future competitions and performances!

The Granger High School Band will competing at the UIL 2A Area D Marching Band Contest this Saturday, October 25th at Academy High School. There will be a sendoff for the band at 12:30PM this Saturday on E. Davilla Street to wish the band good luck on their performance! Then, come see the band perform their show, "Uncharted Waters" at 3:00PM in Academy. We hope to see you there!
