I graduated from Fredericksburg High School in Fredericksburg, Texas in 1978.
I graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas in 1982, with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Generic Special Education and a Kindergarten Endorsement.
I graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas in 1985, with a Master's in Science in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Reading.

I began teaching at Granger in the 2000 - 2001 school year.
This is my 17th year teaching here. It is my 28th year in public school education.
I am the 504 Coordinator for the district and the First Grade Reading Specialist..
I have taught ECE-H in Gonzales; Kindergarten in Thrall; K - 12 Special Education & Gifted and Talented classes in Salado; and 6th – 8th grade ELA/Reading Classes, 6th- 12th grade Special Education Classes in Granger. I have also been the College and Career Readiness Counselor and Assistant Counselor, Educational Diagnostician, ARD Facilitator, 504 Coordinator, ESL Coordinator, Gifted & Talented Coordinator, and Testing Coordinator, and Reading Specialist at Granger.
I am married to Darve Horak. We were married in 1992.
We have one child. Her name is Aaren.
She graduated from Granger in 2013.
We have two pets -- Socrates, and Tickles.
I have written and self-published three novels. They are available from amazon.com and other on-line markets. They are also available as e-books.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy writing, reading, and spending time with my family. We are all active at our church here in Granger.
