Granger ACE, the 21st Century Community Learning Center, intends to submit a continuation application for the 2010-2011 school year. The continuation application is part of the 21st Century grant program. Granger ACE provides after school activities and enrichment classes for all students in Granger ISD.
What is Granger ACE ?
FREE
Granger ACE is a FREE After-school Center for Education program provided by a 21st Century CCLC Grant. Granger ISD applied for the grant in 2009, and it was awarded to provided the students and parents of Granger ISD with 21st Century Educational opportunities. ACE meets Monday- Friday from 4:00 PM-6:30 PM, and Saturdays from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. Our program opened its doors for the first time September 8, 2009. We currently have 239 students enrolled in the program. Adult education classes will begin soon. Classes currently being planned are welding, Spanish to English, English to Spanish. Other classes may be offered if eligible adults indicate a need or want. Our program employs 3 team members, and 3-5 teachers daily. Johnnie Thornton is the Director, Cynthia Butler is the Site Coordinator.

TASK FORCE
Granger ACE has developed a TASK force consisting of Community business owners, Citizens of Granger, Granger City officials, Granger ACE partner (Life Steps), Granger ISD parents, Granger ISD teachers and ACE employees. The TASK force is currently focusing on long range goals, funding, improving providing information to stakeholders and the 5 year strategic plan.

Granger ACE TASK Force is working towards meeting all program requirements and providing the support and guidance for the 21st CCLC program.

Who qualifies for ACE ?
Granger ACE is open for any student of Granger ISD. Adults are accepted if they are parents of students registered in ACE.
What happens at ACE ?
Granger ACE offers the following program to students,

- Computer Education
- Science Clubs
- Cooking Classes
- Crocheting
- Theater Arts
- Game Design
- Reading Clubs
- Music
- Art
- Girls Scouts
- Adult Classes offered (Parents of Granger ACE students):(Times and dates TBD)
- Spanish/English Language classes using Rosetta Stone
- Welding
- Aerobics
- and more too come.
- Transportation is provided for out of town and hazard address students.
