The FCCLA competition events that students compete in are called STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events. There are 12 events that Granger FCCLA qualifies to compete. STAR Events are competitive events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and occupational preparation. STAR Events offer individual skill development and application of learning through the following activities: Cooperative: teams work to accomplish specific goals;Individualized: an individual member works alone to accomplish specific goals; and Competitive: individual or team performance measured by an established set of criteria.
In order to compete for Granger FCCLA, the students must do the following:
1. Sign up for the event they are interested.
2. Attend a STAR Events Information Workshop.
3. Complete a STAR Event Contract and turn it in before the deadline.
4. Set goals and deadlines to complete projects and speeches.
5. Set practice times with Mrs. Huebner
6. Raise the amount of money required to compete.
7. Have a 74 average or better in ALL classes, not GPA.
8. Make a commitment to excel to the best of the student's ability.
